Refrigeration​/HVAC Tech

Overview

Responsible for preventive and predictive maintenance of ammonia refrigeration systems, troubleshooting and repair of refrigeration equipment, and monitoring tasks required in the Process Safety Management (PSM) system.

• Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on refrigeration machinery.
• Troubleshoot and repair refrigeration machinery such as boilers, walk-in coolers, pump seals, etc.
• Program PLCs.
• Monitor and perform tasks for the PSM program (Stellar Interactive).
• Complete daily maintenance and repair logs.
• Communicate with operators from other shifts.
• Maintain and secure work tools.
• Clean and maintain work area.
• Turn off and lock out equipment when not in use.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Provide on-the-job training to new employees.

• Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required. This is normally acquired through a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
• Ammonia Refrigeration License.
• Ability to work on boilers and Kemco systems with little to no supervision.
• Ability to wire motors, contractors and overloads.
• Ability to correctly troubleshoot electrical systems on evaporators, motors, and MCC panels.
• Manual dexterity required for operating machinery and computers.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds required.

Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment. Work may involve lifting of materials and product up to 50 pounds. Working in this environment requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to steel-toed work boots, hardhats, hairnets, beard nets (if applicable), respirator (if required) and flame retardant clothing (if applicable). Cell phones and jewelry are not permitted on the factory floor.
