Overview

CNC Lathe Machinist:
We are a Manufacturing Shop Company seeking dependable and innovative CNC Lathe Machinists who work confidently and independently. Full time position on 2nd shift. Pay rate depending on experience plus night shift differential. We offer competitive benefits:

Responsibilities
  • Plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
  • Programs lathes by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part programs.
  • Sets-up lathes by installing and adjusting three- and four-jaw chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers; indicating vices; trimming heads.
  • Loads stock into position and prepares feeds for machining.
  • Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run parts, and sample work pieces, adhering to applicable standards.
  • Performs precision machining operations to specified tolerances and finishes.
  • Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, turning, facing, knurling, and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures.
  • Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
  • Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; requesting repairs.
  • Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  • Documents actions by completing production and quality logs.
  • Supports organizational goals by taking ownership of new and different requests and seeking opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Keeps machine and workplace clean and orderly.
  • Maintains data sheets and part traceability.
Qualifications
  • Certificate in Machine Shop Technology or Machine Tool Technology/Machinist (preferred).
  • 3-5+ years of CNC Lathe machining experience (preferred).
  • Solid Fanuc control knowledge (preferred).
  • Able to read and understand geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Self-starter with ability to work with little supervision.
  • Quality minded with strong analytical and mathematical skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ethical behavior.
  • Self-motivation and ability to use all types of measuring tools.
  • Computer skills to download and save programs and read scheduling software.
