Field Operator II – Compressor Operator
Compensation $43.45/hr + Agency Vehicle Location Midkiff, TX Schedule 7 days on / 7 days off; rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed Target Start Date ASAP Tentative End Date One year from starting Allowances Agency-provided truck with rat pack and toolbox
The Field Operator II – Compressor Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of natural gas compression equipment. This position monitors, troubleshoots, and maintains compressor-station systems to maximize equipment reliability and runtime.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor natural gas compressors, dehydration units, and associated equipment.
- Adjust operating parameters to maintain optimal pressure, flow, and efficiency.
- Perform routine equipment inspections and record operating readings to identify irregularities.
- Conduct minor maintenance and assist with repairs to compressors, engines, and auxiliary systems.
- Identify mechanical or process problems and escalate them to maintenance personnel when necessary.
- Assist with troubleshooting electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic control systems.
- Follow all company safety policies and operating procedures.
- Maintain accurate daily logs covering operating data, maintenance activities, and safety checks.
- Report equipment malfunctions, safety concerns, and operational deviations.
- Use digital systems for operational data entry and reporting.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training preferred.
- Two to five years of experience in natural gas compression, oil and gas operations, or industrial maintenance.
- Familiarity with rotating equipment, instrumentation, and process-control systems.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability.
- Ability to read P&IDs, schematics, and technical manuals.
- HMI and control-room operating experience preferred.
- OSHA 10/30, H2S Awareness, First Aid/CPR, or DOT Operator Qualification certifications are a plus.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
- Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and at remote locations.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and regularly climb, bend, and stand for extended periods.
- Ability to wear all required personal protective equipment.
