Team members contribute directly to promoting the local area and enhancing visitor experiences.

We are looking for a summer full-time, fall/winter part-time hybrid Social Media Marketing Intern. The role is partially based at the Lake Buchanan/Inks Lake Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Center in Buchanan Dam, TX, with the ability for copywriting, content scheduling, posting, and meetings to be remote. The intern will assist with planning, creating, and publishing engaging social media content across platforms – Facebook, Instagram, and Tik Tok – to promote local events, attractions, and member businesses to promote tourism and create ongoing, effective engagement.

Day-to-day tasks include drafting posts, capturing photos and short videos, monitoring comments and messages, and supporting digital campaigns to increase reach and engagement. The intern will help track basic performance metrics, conduct simple audience and content research, and suggest ideas for improving outreach. This role will also collaborate with staff on marketing projects, assist at community events, and support general office and visitor center activities as needed.

• Strong interest and demonstrable skills in Social Media Marketing and Social Media Content Creation, including familiarity with major platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, and Tik Tok).
• Foundational knowledge of Digital Marketing and Marketing concepts, with the ability to support campaigns and promotions.
• Clear, professional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
• Ability to work on-site for content gathering, photos, and videos in Buchanan Dam, with an opportunity to work remotely for copy, scheduling, and meetings. This position is full-time in the summer and part-time during the school year.
• Must be able to manage multiple tasks and maintain attention to detail.
• Must be able to follow a social media content schedule and deliver content as required and on time.
• Enthusiasm for community-focused work, willingness to learn, and a collaborative, dependable work style; prior coursework or experience in marketing, communications, or a related field is a plus.
