Youth Ministry Director Position Position Summary

The Youth Ministry Director provides leadership, vision, and energy to a growing ministry for middle school and high school students (grades 6–12). This role is centered on building a meaningful, engaging, and Christ-centered experience where students feel they belong, grow in faith, and discover their purpose.

At FUMC Celina, we believe youth ministry is not just about programming—it is about relationships, discipleship, and helping students experience the grace of God in real and transformative ways.

  • Type: Part-Time (Approximately 15–20 hours per week)
  • Compensation: $20–$25 per hour (based on experience)
  • Reports to: Senior Pastor
  • Schedule: Sundays required; weekday and evening flexibility needed
Primary Responsibilities Discipleship & Spiritual Leadership
  • Develop and lead a dynamic youth ministry that forms disciples of Jesus Christ
  • Teach and model a faith centered on loving God and loving others
  • Create environments where students can ask questions, grow spiritually, and build authentic relationships
  • Develop and lead Confirmation classes for youth exploring church membership
Weekly Programming & Gatherings
  • Plan and lead weekly youth gatherings (Sunday and/or weekday)
  • Create experiences that are fun, relevant, and spiritually meaningful
  • Build a culture where youth are excited to participate and invite others
Relationship Building & Pastoral Presence
  • Build strong, consistent relationships with youth and their families
  • Maintain regular communication with parents and caregivers
  • Be present in key moments of students’ lives (events, activities, milestones when possible)
  • Provide care and support during times of need or crisis
  • Recruit, train, and lead a team of adult volunteers
  • Develop a Youth Leadership Team that empowers students to lead and serve
  • Foster a healthy, encouraging, and team-oriented ministry culture
  • Plan and lead youth events, retreats, and mission trips
  • Create opportunities for students to serve locally and beyond
  • Support fundraising efforts connected to mission opportunities
  • Participate in church-wide and community events to connect with new families
Administration & Organization
  • Maintain clear communication about events and schedules
  • Manage ministry calendar, attendance, and budget responsibly
  • Collaborate with church staff to align youth ministry with overall church vision
  • Encourage youth participation in worship (music, service, leadership roles)
Qualifications
  • A growing and active Christian faith with a clear sense of calling to youth ministry
  • Passion for working with students and families
  • Strong relational, organizational, and communication skills
  • Energetic, creative, self-motivated, and team-oriented
  • Experience in youth ministry (2+ years preferred)
  • Familiarity with United Methodist theology and practice is helpful
  • Consistent presence on Sundays and weekly youth gatherings
  • Participation in key church events throughout the year
  • Commitment to building a safe, welcoming, and Christ-centered environment
  • Collaboration with staff and alignment with the church’s mission and vision
  • Attend weekly Staff Meetings
