History

Martin County Hospital District (MCHD) was organized in 1967 and has boundaries coterminous with Martin County, Texas. It is located in the heart of West Texas. The hospital opened in 1949 near downtown Stanton and was replaced with a state‑of‑the‑art 18‑bed facility in 2012 on I‑20, designated as a Critical Access Hospital.

Summary of Responsibilities

This professional staff person is responsible for performing assessments, developing a plan of care, implementing and evaluating the care. The RN administers medications and treatments as ordered by physicians, following current clinical nursing practice. The RN directs, monitors, and evaluates care delegated to non‑licensed personnel. As part of the interdisciplinary team, the RN collaborates with other members to assure safe and accurate care delivery.

The RN also performs technical services in a cross‑functional mode to comprehensively serve patient needs, including specimen testing, quality control, quality improvement, and equipment maintenance under the direction of the Laboratory.

Requirements
  • Education: Graduate of a School of Professional Nursing.
  • Licenses/Certificates: Must have a license to practice professional nursing by the Texas Board of Nursing or licensure from a state within the Nursing Compact. Successful completion of AHA approved courses in BLS upon hire. ACLS certification required within 90 days of hire. PALS is preferred.
  • Experience: Two (2) years experience as a Professional Registered Nurse in an operating room environment preferred. Prior OR experience preferred. CNOR preferred.
