Qualifications
  • Must have and maintain an active, unencumbered license (LPN/LVN) in the state of practice
  • Compact licenses must be transferred to your state of residence within 90 days
  • Current CPR certification (hands-on component) — Aveanna can assist in obtaining after hire if necessary
  • TB skin test (current within last 12 months)
  • Six months prior hands-on nursing experience preferred but not required
  • Must have reliable transportation

  • State-specific requirements:
    South Carolina – 1 year pediatrics;
    California – 1 year experience under current nursing license;
    Louisiana – 1 year experience under current nursing license;
    Continuing Education as required by state

Responsibilities
  • Deliver and coordinate quality patient care in accordance with physician orders and care plans
  • Observe and assess patient condition; report changes to supervisor or physician
  • Document all activities, assessments, nursing actions, responses, and coordination of care promptly
  • Participate in, implement, and update the nursing care plan
  • Take appropriate nursing action based on assessment to achieve expected outcomes
  • Recognize changes requiring intervention and implement care to prevent or reduce risk
  • Comply with Aveanna policies, state and federal regulations, accrediting bodies, and the Nurse Practice Act
  • Provide care utilizing infection control measures per OSHA standards
  • Educate patient and family regarding disease process, self-care techniques, and prevention strategies
  • Maintain knowledge of nursing competencies through education and skill evaluations
Other Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Current, unrestricted state license as a Practical or Vocational Nurse
  • Current CPR certification
  • Proficiency in clinical assessments, documentation, and adherence to policies
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English
  • Must be able to travel
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • Ability to reposition patients and move equipment; prolonged walking, standing, bending, kneeling, reaching, twisting
  • Ability to sit and climb stairs; visual and hearing acuity
  • Ability to respond to emergency situations in home or during transport
Environment
  • Function in diverse environments; exposure to allergens
  • Possible exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and infectious diseases
