Job DescriptionJOB SUMMARY:
This is a position for supervisory coverage of the Nursing Department. Responsibilities require knowledge of hospital and nursing policies, allowing independent judgment in their interpretation. The House Supervisor duties included provision of managerial and clinical links between the staff and the Chief Nursing Officer in his/her absence, and the administrator-on-call. Participates in the department’s performance improvement activities. Works under limited supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required;
Registered Nurse currently licensed by the State of Texas or other compact state;
Current BLS required; ACLS, PALS (or ENPC) and TNCC required but can be obtained within the first 12 months of employment;
Five years of nursing experience required including Acute Care, Telemetry, and Emergency Department nursing. - Knowledge, Skill, and Ability:
General knowledge of electronic equipment, computer hardware, and software; knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar. Possesses skills of active listening, critical thinking, oral comprehension, and time management.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Exerting 50-100 lbs. of force occasionally or up to 50 lbs. of force frequently. May involve exerting in excess of 100 lbs. of force in some situations. Up to 20 lbs. of force to constantly move objects.
