This role is located at the Mexia State Supported Living Center and is part of the Texas Health and Human Services Commission. The Coordinator oversees campus‑based direct services to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, ensuring staff coverage, quality of care and safety of residents.
Responsibilities- Organize, coordinate and oversee activities, ensuring facility‑wide staff coverage.
- Continuously monitor homes, infirmary, activity centers and grounds; identify and address unusual occurrences, emergencies and incidents immediately.
- Ensure ongoing care, treatment and support activities; provide coaching and in‑service training to staff.
- Make staff reassignment decisions, client supervision determinations and monitor use of restraints.
- Document daily issues, concerns and incidents for review; serve as contact person for abuse/neglect allegations and respond immediately to critical incidents.
- Coordinate and monitor service delivery with administrative and supervisory staff, conducting targeted reviews or audits when requested.
- Serve as home supervisor for a unit when needed due to prolonged vacancy.
- Attend meetings, serve on committees and perform other supervisory tasks as directed.
- Transport individuals as needed for scheduled activities or emergencies.
- Participate in disaster response, recovery or COOP activation as required.
- Drive a state‑owned vehicle.
Morning, Evening and Night shifts on multiple homes; eligible for additional pay on evenings, nights, weekends, and maximum‑security locations.
Qualifications- High school graduation or GED (preferred).
- Minimum two (2) years of experience in a supervisory or lead role with people who have intellectual or developmental disabilities, mental health issues or physical disabilities.
- Knowledge of individual care techniques, treatment and developmental programs.
- Knowledge of facility policies, procedures, scheduling and coverage strategies.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to exercise good judgment, make effective decisions and work as a member of a team.
- Flexibility to handle work assignments and respond quickly and calmly in emergencies.
- Ability to train staff and administer first aid/COVID CPR and Safety Utilization of Restraint (SUR) techniques.
- Physical ability to perform direct contact duties and complete regular rounds.
Valid Texas driver’s license or ability to obtain it no later than 90 days after hire date; out‑of‑state license holders must provide an original certified driving record.
Background and EligibilityApplicants must pass fingerprint criminal background check, pre‑employment drug screen, and registry checks (CANRS, Nurse Aide, Medication Aide, HHS List of Excluded Individuals/Entities). Males aged 18–25 must be registered with the Selective Service. All employees are subject to random drug testing.
