Responsibilities
- Integrates technical skills and theoretical knowledge to meet the needs of patients and their families.
- Assists the health‑care team with prevention of illness and injury, maintenance of wellness, and provision of comfort.
- Provides direction, education, and develops leadership skills at the unit level.
- Delivers and accurately documents direct, age‑specific care based on medical orders and an integrated, multidisciplinary plan of care.
- Safely administers prescribed medications, identifying incompatibilities and/or interactions.
- Recognizes changes in patient situations and intervenes appropriately.
- Mobilizes resources to meet the individualized needs of patients and families.
- Current RN licensure in Virginia (or eligible/compact state) – required for all levels.
- AHA BLS HCP certification or equivalent – required for continued employment.
- Clinical Nurse I:
None. - Clinical Nurse II: 12–24 months RN experience.
- Clinical Nurse III: 3 years clinical experience.
- Clinical Nurse I:
Experience as an LPN, nursing assistant, or care partner in an acute‑care setting. - Clinical Nurse II, III:
Academic health‑care experience and experience with similar patient populations in an acute‑care setting.
- Diploma or Associate’s Degree from a professional nursing program recognized or approved by the state Board of Nursing.
- Registered nurses without a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (or higher) must enroll in an approved RN to BSN program within two years of their start date and complete the program within five years unless grandfathered.
- Completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (or higher) from an accredited program.
- Certification in a specialty area (specific to Clinical Nurse III).
- Lift 20–50 lbs.
- Prolonged standing, prolonged sitting, frequent bending, walking (distance), climbing steps/ladder/other, reaching overhead.
- Strong recall, reasoning, problem solving, hearing, clear speaking, legible writing, reading, logical thinking.
- Fast‑pace and steady‑pace environment, ability to handle multiple priorities, intensive customer interaction, noisy environment.
Position Requirements
- Clinicians work all three shifts, weekends, and holidays.
- Individual shift rotation and schedules established with the Nurse Manager/Practice Manager; may be adjusted to meet unit requirements.
As appropriate based on unit assignment.
Supervisory Responsibilities- Organizes work, delegates, and supervises others (RNs, LPNs, care partners, unit secretaries, etc.) in carrying out assignments.
