• Agricultural Nursery Workers will handle a range of tasks related to soil preparation, plant cultivation, and general horticultural care.
• Prepare growing areas by hauling, spreading, digging, raking, and mixing media to create an optimal environment.
• Cover and fill cold frames and greenhouses in preparation for planting.
• Haul, plant, spray, weed, water, prune, trim, shape, and space plants, applying granular or liquid fertilizers as needed.
• Tie, bunch, wrap, and pack trees and shrubs to fulfill orders, loading them onto trucks as required.
• Transplant seedlings and liners into containers in both greenhouse and outdoor production areas and arrange them in designated growing areas.
• perform general tasks including preparing soil, planting, pruning, deadheading, pinching, shaping, spacing, fertilizing, shipping products, cleaning work areas, and transporting plant materials within the greenhouse.
• Between harvests, perform additional tasks to prepare crops, unload, and restock items for storage. Crops include bedding plants, annuals, perennials, roses, mums, succulents, vegetables, foliage, and poinsettias.
• For bedding plants: fill flats with potting soil, stack for transport, plant plugs or seedlings, tag flats with labels, water manually, and place them in growing areas for finishing.
• In propagation and liner tasks: prepare flats with potting soil, transport to planting areas, insert cuttings or plant plugs and seedlings, tag the flats, and ensure horticultural needs are met.
• For potted plants and hanging baskets: fill pots or baskets with potting soil, plant transplants as directed, water containers, and place them in the growing area. Install hangers and tags on pots or baskets; may insert watering tubes to aid irrigation.
• These duties support plant growth and productivity within greenhouse and outdoor settings to ensure a consistent quality and supply of plants across crop types and growth stages.

• Fieldwork begins at assigned time, usually shortly after daylight.
• Work is performed during light rain and in high humidity and in temperatures ranging from 100 (+) degrees to below 35 degrees
  
  F.
• Workers will be on their feet in bent, stooped, and crouched positions for long periods.
• Workers will make fast, simple, repeated movements of fingers, hands, and wrists and must be able to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with the body, arms, and/or legs.
• Workers will use muscles to lift, push, pull, or carry heavy objects, such as potted plants, up to approximately 50 lbs.
