If so, the City of Azle may have the perfect opportunity for you. We are seeking a dedicated and dependable Full‑Time Kennel Technician to help care for animals at the Azle Animal Shelter.
Please note that the schedule for this position does include weekends and holidays.
What are the essential duties of a Kennel Technician?Kennel Technicians are responsible for the daily care of all animals at the shelter, providing the animals with love, compassion, grooming, daily feeding, and exercise. It is critical that our facilities and equipment be properly cleaned and disinfected to maintain the health of the animals and all who visit our shelter, so the candidate selected for this role must understand the need to roll up his/her sleeves for many tasks.
The chosen candidate will communicate regularly with staff, citizens, and vendors, so strong interpersonal and customer‑service skills are a must.
What's the working environment like?Kennel Technicians, like other shelter staff, are exposed daily to strong odors and temperature variations/extremes. The role also requires frequent bending, stooping, lifting up to 20 lbs, reaching, squatting/kneeling, standing and walking.

What kind of education/experience is required?A high school diploma or equivalent is required; a professional demeanor and the ability to work well with others in a fast‑paced environment are also required.
Preference will be given to candidates with prior animal shelter experience or experience with animal handling and behavior in a business setting.
What are the pay and benefits like?This position pays $18.87 HRLY—$20.27 HRLY DOQ.
Health/Dental/Disability/Term Life benefits are paid at 100 % (Employee Only/Buy‑up available), and you will participate in the Texas Municipal Retirement System (TMRS) pension plan at a rate of 7 % with the City of Azle matching your contributions 2:1.
Additional supplemental offerings include Vision, Pet Discounts, Voluntary Life, Air Ambulance, Legal Shield, and the availability to participate in the Voluntary Nationwide 457(B) Retirement Plan.
Free Telemedicine is provided to employees and those in their households.
