Veterinary Technician / Veterinary CSR

Job Description:

Compassion Veterinary Hospital, PLLC is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Veterinary Technician or Technician Assistant to join our veterinary team. As a Veterinary Technician or Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality care to animal patients and supporting the overall function of our veterinary clinic. This position requires strong knowledge of veterinary medicine, excellent technical skills and a genuine passion for animal welfare.

This is a multifaceted position with responsibilities shared between the technician and CSR teams.
Assist with daily CSR tasks, including answering phone lines, booking appointments, collecting client payments, seating clients in rooms, cleaning lobby and exam spaces, and completing other tasks deemed appropriate for the role by leadership.
Assist veterinarians in all aspects of animal care, including examinations, treatments, surgeries and diagnostic procedures.
Prepare and restrain animals for examinations and procedures while ensuring their comfort and safety.
Perform laboratory tests, including blood work, urinalysis and cytology, and accurately interpret and record results.
Monitor patients during anesthesia and recovery, including vital signs, fluid therapy and pain management.
Maintain accurate medical records and update patient information in the electronic health records system.
Educate and guide pet owners on medication administration, preventive care and nutrition.
Clean, sanitize and maintain medical equipment and treatment areas.
Assist with scheduling appointments, answering phone calls and managing client communications.
Collaborate with the veterinary team to ensure smooth workflow and exceptional patient care.
Continuously expand knowledge and skills through professional development opportunities and by staying current on advancements in veterinary medicine.
An associate degree in veterinary technology or equivalent certification is a plus.
Previous experience working in a veterinary hospital is required, with a minimum of one year of experience.
Proficiency in animal-handling and restraint techniques for all levels of FAS.
Proficiency in jugular, cephalic and/or saphenous venipuncture for blood draws and IV catheter placement.
Proficiency in managing hospitalized patients as directed by the veterinarian, with the ability to accurately record all care provided in the electronic medical record, electronic treatment sheet and charges.
Strong knowledge of veterinary medical procedures, terminology and best practices.
Compassion and empathy for animals and their owners.
Knowledge of the veterinary software system Pulse(eVet) is a plus.
