What To Expect
Tesla is looking for an experienced Staff Quality Engineer to support Energy production lines. In this role, you will be responsible for the quality of the parts, the process, and the final product. You will partner with design, supply chain, manufacturing, and service to develop Tesla’s production process to make high‑quality products that meet our internal and external customer expectations. The Quality Engineer is a professional problem‑solver who uses quality techniques—Six Sigma, advanced statistics, Advanced Product Quality Planning, data visualization—to solve quality challenges and develop reliable processes that prevent defects, enabling high‑quality products that meet the high reliability standards in the energy business and help accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy.
WhatYou’ll Do
- Develop and implement a comprehensive quality management system to ensure product specifications and industry standards are met.
- Investigate and resolve quality‑related issues and defects, and report on quality performance to company stakeholders. Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify and address quality issues promptly.
- Prepare and present quality performance reports to project stakeholders, highlighting key metrics, issues, and progress toward quality objectives.
- Oversee documentation of quality control activities, including inspection reports and corrective action plans.
- Provide training and support to project and operations teams on quality standards and best practices.
- Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Materials, or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in quality assurance and quality control, with a strong focus on large‑scale construction projects.
- Experience with electro‑mechanical, vehicle, or aerospace assemblies, battery pack or module manufacturing preferred.
- Six Sigma or ASQ certification preferred.
- Specific training and demonstrated success in applying design for quality, problem‑solving methodologies, FMEA, process capability analysis, hypothesis testing, DoE, and SPC.
- Strong understanding of industry standards and regulatory requirements relevant to industrial electrical projects.
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to manage complex information and make data‑driven decisions.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross‑functional teams and communicate quality principles and standards.
