Position Summary

The Quality Control Inspector is responsible for ensuring products meet established quality standards through inspection, testing, and evaluation of materials and finished goods. This role works closely with production teams to identify defects, verify compliance with specifications, and support corrective and preventive actions to maintain consistent product quality.

This position is designed for a detail‑oriented professional with a strong commitment to accuracy and continuous improvement. The Quality Control Inspector plays a critical role in upholding quality standards, supporting manufacturing excellence, and contributing to Universal Fabricating’s commitment to precision, reliability, and customer satisfaction.

Key responsibilities
  • Review and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings to understand design and measurement requirements for each project.
  • Approves incoming materials by confirming specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests, and rejecting and returning unacceptable materials.
  • Approves in-process production by confirming specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests, returning products for rework, and confirming rework.
  • Documents inspection results by completing reports and logs, summarizing rework and waste, and inputting data into quality database.
  • Recommend product improvements and changes to production processes to improve quality.
  • Keep measurement equipment operating by following operating instructions and calling for repairs.
  • Utilize forklifts and pallet jacks to move materials.
  • Maintains a safe and healthy work enviroment by following standards, procedures and complying with legal regulations.
  • Ensures quality and organization meet anticipated timelines and fabrication goals.
  • Assist in other related duties as assigned.
