How you will contribute:
We are looking for a QA/QC Technician to join our growing Food Safety & Quality team. In this hands-on role, you will help ensure that raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products consistently meet Plantible Foods’ food safety, quality, and product specification requirements.
You will perform laboratory analytical testing, support environmental monitoring and production-floor quality programs, and work closely with Operations to maintain strong GMP and food safety standards. The role will also support compliance with FSMA Preventive Controls, FSSC 22000, Gluten-Free, Halal, Kosher, and Non-GMO certification programs.
Beyond laboratory testing, you will be an active partner to our manufacturing teams—conducting GEMBA walks, coaching employees on food safety expectations, and helping identify and resolve quality issues before they impact our products.
What you will be working on:
- Perform analytical chemistry and physical testing on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products, including protein analysis, dry weight/total solids calculations, spectrophotometric testing, pH, moisture, color, density, and other product specifications.
- Prepare samples, standards, reagents, and laboratory equipment according to approved analytical methods.
- Accurately calculate, review, record, and communicate laboratory results and promptly escape OOS or abnormal findings.
- Prepare, label, receive, retain, and manage raw material, in-process, and finished-product samples.
- Conduct Food Safety and Quality GEMBA walks and verify compliance with GMPs, hygiene, sanitation, and contamination-control requirements.
- Coach production employees on GMP practices, sampling procedures, hygiene standards, and food safety expectations.
- Support the Environmental Monitoring Program through environmental sampling, documentation, trending, and corrective-action follow-up.
- Verify CCP and OPRP monitoring activities according to the HACCP / Food Safety Plan.
- Support FSSC 22000, FSMA Preventive Controls, Gluten-Free, Halal, Kosher, and Non-GMO compliance programs.
- Calibrate and verify laboratory equipment, including balances, pH meters, thermometers, colorimeters, spectrophotometers, and other analytical instruments.
- Maintain laboratory testing records, sampling logs, calibration records, environmental monitoring records, and traceability documentation.
- Support non-conformance investigations, root cause analysis, CAPA activities, mock recalls, and traceability exercises.
- Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, and FSQ teams to troubleshoot and resolve food safety and product quality issues.
What you bring to Plantible:
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in food science, Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology, Biotechnology, or a related scientific discipline preferred.
- Previous experience in a laboratory, QA/QC, food manufacturing, pharmaceutical, or biotechnology environment preferred; relevant academic laboratory, internship, or co-op experience may also be considered.
- Familiarity with laboratory testing, sample preparation, analytical calculations,…
