Unlike many internships that restrict students to observation or data entry, this role involves active participation in customer and external audits, problem-solving alongside experienced engineers, and contributions to continuous improvement initiatives. This internship is located at the Steel Dynamics Sinton Flat Roll Division located in Sinton, TX. This internship will take place in Summer 2027.

• Support and maintain quality programs aligned with steel industry standards.
• Assist in preparing, monitoring, and maintaining quality documents (PFMEAs, Control Plans, audit records).
• Participate in internal, external, and customer audits; assist in documenting findings and corrective actions.
• Work with team members to perform root cause analysis and develop corrective action plans.
• Conduct sample testing on coils, including width, gauge, hardness, adherence, coating thickness, and tensile properties.
• Support metallurgical and material property testing, including chemical coating analysis, zinc coating weights, and spectrometer testing.
• Assist with review of non-conforming material and support disposition processes.
• Gain exposure to outside processing order reviews, vendor agreements, and performance monitoring.
