* ** The Postdoctoral Researcher will support research in the Bioenergy research thrust as well as new Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF) research in the Center for Energy & Environmental Sustainability CEES), a NSF-funded and Texas A&M University System-recognized center at Prairie View A&M University. The candidate is expected to have the necessary background and be responsible for all the tasks related to catalytic conversion of cellulosic biomass to Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF) research.
*** This position is funded by a grant or restricted funds. Continued employment is contingent on the renewal of grant or restricted funding.
****** The salary is determined in accordance with the University’s compensation structure and will be commensurate with the candidates’ education and experience, within the assigned salary range for this position.
***** Responsibilities:
*** Synthesis and characterization of catalysts and testing catalysts for the conversion of cellulosic biomass to hydrocarbon biocrude oils and biofuels.
* Develop proposals for funding, write journal articles and supervise and mentor graduate and undergraduate students with research projects.
* Identify appropriate standard techniques for research and maintain detailed records of data for all the work done in the Center.
* Install, operate, maintain, and repair, as needed, the computers, software, and research equipment.
* Participate in the Center's educational and outreach activities, including workshops and seminars
* Assist with all the necessary reports and cataloging of records and other related tasks.
* Conduct a comprehensive literature review on the topics related to aviation fuels from biomass and other feed stocks and other research areas as needed.
* Perform other duties as needed to assist the center director and the research team.

Education and Experience:

*** Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related field.
* No prior experience required.
** Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
*** Knowledge of laboratory chemical synthesis and use of chemical analysis instruments.
* Knowledge of computers and computer software related to the position.
*
* Preferred Qualifications:

*** Experiences in use IR, UV-Vis, GC-MS, HPLC and NMR instruments.
* Experiences in use of Origin Lab Graphing & Analysis software.
