The Research Associate performs independent or supervisory roles in research activities requiring advanced knowledge in a field of science or learning. Tasks include preparing funding proposals, maintaining research equipment, supervising graduate and undergraduate students, and managing data collection and analysis. The role requires consistent use of discretion and judgment across diverse research projects.

• Supervise experiments at the McGregor Research Center, including sourcing animals, scheduling facility use, and coordinating research schedules.
• Evaluate and apply standard research techniques; conduct routine data collection and herd management.
• Assist research PI’s or graduate students with data collection, feed management, animal management, and adjustments to facilities, pasture design, and research protocols.
• Operate and maintain equipment and technology used for electronic data collection.
• Use computers and laboratory equipment to conduct data analysis, statistical analysis, and technical evaluation of research experiments and results.
• Summarize results for inclusion in scientific publications and client-oriented reports.
• Prepare and write proposals to funding agencies; maintain financial accounts related to research projects.
• Supervise undergraduate and/or graduate students and other laboratory, technical or field staff involved in research during project data collections.
• Coordinate data collection and timely entry into Agri Webb, Farmbrite, and TEAMs Excel Cattle Files; train other employees to use these programs.
• Assist with scheduled cattle management and husbandry processing, including vaccinations, tagging, feed mixing, feeding, animal movement, data collection, and record maintenance.
• Operate, maintain, update, and repair research equipment as needed.
• Maintain training requirements for compliance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• Minimum of two years of related professional experience.
• Familiarity with appropriate laboratory and/or technical equipment.
• Proficiency with computers and applicable software for database creation and other computer-related tasks.
• Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
• Effective communication skills.
• Experience performing independent or supervisory research activities that require advanced knowledge and judgment.
• Experience preparing funding proposals and operating research equipment.

• Advanced degree in a relevant field.

$45,000.
