Position Overview

Join an innovative laboratory focused on applying advanced DNA analysis and genomic technologies to support complex forensic investigations. This role involves processing forensic evidence, performing molecular biology techniques, maintaining strict quality standards, and contributing to the identification of unknown individuals and the resolution of challenging investigative cases. The laboratory operates in a highly regulated, production-focused environment with an emphasis on quality, accuracy, and scientific integrity.

Schedule

& Compensation
  • Salary: $65,000–$75,000 annually depending on experience
  • Schedule:

    Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM
Education Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in one of the following or a closely related scientific discipline:
    • Biology
    • Molecular Biology
    • Biochemistry
    • Chemistry
  • Official transcripts will be required during the onsite interview to verify degree completion.
Key Responsibilities
  • Follow laboratory safety procedures, SOPs, quality standards, and accreditation requirements.
  • Perform DNA extraction from a variety of biological sample types.
  • Conduct DNA quantification and quality control testing.
  • Receive, document, secure, process, and return forensic evidence while maintaining accurate chain-of-custody records.
  • Participate in the development, validation, and implementation of new laboratory methods.
  • Operate, calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain laboratory instrumentation.
  • Monitor laboratory inventory, supplies, and reagent levels.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive case information.
  • Prepare technical documentation and laboratory records.
  • Provide expert testimony when required.
  • Perform additional laboratory duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, or another related life science.
  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on laboratory experience with 1 year of experience working in a forensic human DNA laboratory.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow detailed procedures in a regulated laboratory environment.
  • Demonstrated experience performing forensic DNA analysis in accordance with established quality standards.
  • Experience working independently while maintaining high levels of accuracy and documentation.
Preferred Background
  • 2–3+ years of molecular laboratory experience
  • DNA extraction from a variety of sample types
  • Working in a regulated, high-throughput laboratory environment
  • Strong adherence to SOPs and quality systems
