The Bandera Independent School District Food Service Department is seeking an energetic, dependable, and customer-focused Cafeteria Worker to join the Hill Country Elementary team. This position plays an important role in providing nutritious, high-quality meals while creating a positive dining experience for students and staff.
Bandera ISD operates on a 4-day instructional week (Monday-Thursday), offering employees an excellent work-life balance. Some Fridays are required based on the school calendar.
QualificationsRequired:
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
- Satisfactory criminal history background check.
Preferred:
- Previous food service or cafeteria experience.
- Experience working in a school setting.
Applicants without prior food service experience are encouraged to apply. Bandera ISD will provide on-the-job training for qualified candidates.
Primary Responsibilities- Prepare and serve meals in accordance with district menus and food safety guidelines.
- Assist with food preparation, portioning, and presentation.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen equipment, work areas, serving lines, and dining areas.
- Receive and properly store food and supplies.
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
- Provide friendly and courteous customer service to students, staff, and visitors.
- Follow all local, state, and federal health, sanitation, and nutrition regulations.
- Work collaboratively with cafeteria staff to ensure efficient meal service.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Cafeteria Manager or Food Service Director.
- Knowledge of basic food preparation and sanitation practices.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Dependable attendance and punctuality.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for students.
