Kitchen Manager Job Summary:

The Kitchen Manager will assist the General Manager in managing and overseeing the daily back of house operations of the cafe.

Supervisory Duties & Responsibilities:

• Hires and trains BOH cafe staff
• Organizes and oversees BOH staff schedules
• Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive
• Handles progressive of BOH employees in accordance with Company policy

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Manage and oversee the kitchen operations working closely with the GM to ensure the overall success of the cafe
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, food handling, and hygiene standards
• Ensure all pertinent staff members have a current sanitation & safety certification(s)
• Complete food inventories and place food orders effectively and in a timely manner
• Control food cost and usage by following proper and responsible food requisition and storage procedures while maintaining waste control efforts
• Ensure that all equipment is kept clean and in excellent working condition through personal inspection and preventative maintenance plans
• Oversee the continuous training of kitchen employees on kitchen equipment, utensils, cleanliness, sanitation practices, proper lifting and carrying techniques, and handling hazardous materials
• Prepare and submit operations reports and other documentation as requested by General Manager
• Perform other duties and support functions as assigned

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Strong supervisory and leadership skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills with a focus on customer service
• Excellent time management skills
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Familiarity with food handling, safety, and other restaurant guidelines
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• 3 years of previous restaurant experience required; management experience preferred
• Achieve a passing score on the Serv Safe exam or possess a valid Serv Safe certification

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to traverse all parts of the restaurant quickly
• Prolonged periods of standing and walking
• Must be able to lift 25 pounds at times
