General Purpose
This position provides a visible presence at the store entrances and exits, mitigating theft and fraud while maintaining a safe and secure environment for associates and customers. The Specialist greets all customers courteously, deters theft through a "command" presence in a company-issued vest, monitors Code 50 package inspections, walks the sales floor to identify potential theft indicators as directed by store leadership, and partners with leadership to ensure compliance with loss‑prevention directives and minimize operational shortage.
ResponsibilitiesMaintaining Safe & Secure Environment:
- Understands safety is the top priority and practices safe behaviors, assisting store leadership in maintaining a safe environment for associates and customers.
- Provides a visible "command" presence with eye contact and greetings at entrances, exits, and sales floor in a company‑issued vest, monitoring for safety issues.
- Removes clutter and ensures safe, clear egress to emergency exits.
Developing Great Teams & Partnerships:
- Provides great customer service by greeting customers, smiling, and answering questions courteously.
- Treats all customers and associates with respect.
- Recognizes associates using company recognition programs.
- Engages in regular internal and external partner activities, including conference calls and district meetings.
- Handles other duties to support loss‑prevention initiatives.
Personal and Store Brand:
- Represents and supports the company brand at all times.
- Maintains a professional appearance, following the dress code.
Mitigating Theft & Fraud:
- Monitors entrances, exits, and sales floor for theft indicators.
- Gathers theft indicators and uses internal or external intelligence to reduce shortage trends.
- Communicates effectively with store leadership and loss‑prevention leadership.
- Adheres to company policy for external theft response and best practices.
Minimizing Operational Shortage:
- Increases store awareness of processes to reduce operational shortage.
- Trains and educates associates on shortage reduction initiatives.
- Observes and validates proper checkout procedures for customers and associates.

- High School education or equivalent required; AA degree preferred.
- One year of retail supervisory experience or similar training preferred.
- One year of loss‑prevention/security training preferred.
- Active Security Guard License preferred.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced environment.
- Strong communication skills.
- Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with the store team.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Proven ability to effectively resolve conflict.
- Must comply with all applicable federal and state laws for security positions, including background screening, physical examination, fingerprinting, and/or drug and alcohol testing.
Consistent timeliness and regular attendance. Ability to spend up to 100% of working time standing, walking, and moving around the store. Must be able to raise or lower objects more than 25 lbs. from one level to another, and regularly bend, stoop, or crouch as business needs require.
