Position: Stocker (81529)

Summary

Provide extraordinary shopping experiences to guests and assist them in finding stocked and in-date products.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Know and actively demonstrate, daily, the Company Mission Statement and Core Values.
  • Maintain uniform standards as detailed in the Employee Manual for all worked hours.
  • Greet guests with a smiling face and helpful demeanor, prioritizing the guest.
  • Empty shopping carts onto the register lane as needed.
  • Stock shelves, front and dust product, and review for out of date items.
  • Stock beer cooler, wine cooler, coke box, freezer, and/or deli case.
  • Remove cases and/or boxes from the sales floor (other than organized case stack displays).
  • Break down boxes not for store use and dispose of them.
  • Keep re‑packing bins organized and maintain area regularly.
  • Clean up broken items; mop floors and place Wet Floor signs; do not leave spills unattended.
  • Sweep and mop the floor.
  • Keep the parking lot free of trash and other refuse.
  • Gather shopping carts from the parking lot regularly.
  • Empty trash receptacles in store and outside as needed.
  • Keep bathrooms clean and stocked.
  • Keep bags well stocked at registers.
  • Use proper lifting techniques.
  • Work in accordance with all safety regulations of Specs Family Partners and OSHA.
  • Load keg orders using the keg lift if available; seek assistance as needed.
  • Answer questions and provide information to guests.
  • Resolve guest complaints with courtesy and respect.
  • Suggestively sell add‑on items to guests.
  • Run a cash register as business dictates.
  • Carry out or dolly out merchandise at guest requests; tips may be accepted but never requested.
  • Avoid conversations with coworkers when guests are present.
  • Avoid use of personal cell phone while on the sales floor.
  • Prepare assigned areas for inventory and assist in the inventory process if needed.
  • Other projects as assigned by management; may include cleaning the restroom.
  • Carry out directives of management efficiently.
  • Fulfill responsibilities with care and attention to detail.
  • Practice teamwork and cooperation with others.
  • Possess time‑management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Manage stress in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Stand, lift, carry, walk, bend, and reach products routinely weighing 50 pounds or more; lift and/or move up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds occasionally using proper lifting techniques and tools; push and pull 50–100 pounds regularly. Communicate with and understand team members and guests.
  • Attend and be timely; no stocking from home.
  • Qualifications

    Must be over the age of 21. Required skills and abilities listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

    Education or Experience

    Retail stocking experience is preferred; a high school diploma or GED is required. Experience can count as education.

    Language Skills

    Must read, comprehend, and write simple instructions or memos in English. Communication with coworkers and guests is required; bilingual skills are a plus.

    Mathematical Skills

    Perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of whole numbers, fractions, and decimals; calculate discounts and percentages.

    Demeanor and Personal Skills

    Smile, friendly, helpful, responsible, reliable, committed to service. Patience, friendliness, outgoing personality, self‑starter, strong work ethic, and timely completion of tasks.

    Hours

    Full‑time: typically 35 hours per week; must be available to work any Friday or Saturday shift and at least 80% of all other shifts. Part‑time: up to 25 hours per week. Scheduled per business needs; outside of scheduled time requires District Manager approval.

    Reasoning Ability

    Apply common sense to carry out written, oral, or diagram instructions.

    Certificates, Licenses

    Maintain a valid TABC Beverage Sellers Permit. A valid Food Handlers Permit may be required. The TABC course may take 2–3 hours; paid up to $3 hours and cost will be deducted ($8) from the paycheck.

    Physical Demands

    Regular standing, walking, bending; lifting up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds occasionally; pushing or pulling 50–100 pounds regularly. Close and distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus required.

    Work Environment and Environmental Conditions

    Positive environment with moderate noise; may include exposure to outside weather conditions during delivery of service.
