The Business Development Manager is a critical role in our high‑performing sales team. This candidate is responsible for developing comprehensive business plans for his/her accounts that actualize the Region Sales Initiatives to efficiently grow operating profits and revenues year over year. He/she is a strong people leader that guides and directs his/her KAMs. Team development is a key skill for a successful RAM.

This position sits within our Swedish Match affiliate, Swedish Match North America LLC, which develops, manufactures, and sells quality products with market‑leading brands such as ZYN nicotine pouches and other smokeless tobacco products. Our vision is “A world without cigarettes,” and our mission is to provide adult consumers with enjoyable alternatives that carry a lower risk than smoking.

- Develop, lead, and actualize a strategic business plan that will grow operating profits and revenue year to year with the assigned customer group, focusing on distribution, merchandising execution, identifying regional growth opportunities, and category management.
- Communicate goals clearly and provide visibility to performance against those goals.
- Use syndicated data (Circana, CRM, consumer) to identify business opportunities.
- Collaborate with KAM to identify opportunities, set objectives, develop sales presentations, and support the regional planning process.
- Manage and allocate local trade and promotional spending budgets in alignment with regional guidelines.
- Assess the business results for assigned customers and recommend strategic change strategies if necessary.
- Develop strong partnerships with customers’ key decision makers at all levels within the organization.
- Collaborate with MSM to ensure alignment of executional objectives within the market.
- Strive for operational excellence with efficient use of resources.
- Engage actively in performance processes through coaching and learning to grow the sales organization.
- Provide a development plan for each Key Account Manager to enable advancement.
- Accurately manage business performance data to ensure timely reporting of account metrics to the Account Sales Director.
- Collaborate and engage with Talent Acquisition in recruiting new KAMs & SAMs in accordance with company policies.
- Develop and align personalized development plans for direct reports based on the Sales Competency Model.
- Provide ongoing coaching to support team development in line with Performance Management standards and the Sales Competency Model.
- Communicate with impact consistently with the team, cross‑functional partners, and customers.
- Create a culture that fosters cooperation, credibility, candor, consistency, integrity, and a commitment to exceptional performance across the team.
- Minimum bachelor’s degree focused in business; MBA preferred.
- Minimum five years in developing and leading strategy in account management and/or wholesaler management in consumer goods.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple accounts.
- Proven ability to communicate with impact in written and verbal formats.
- Strong presentation development and delivery skills.
- Strong planning, organizational, leadership, coaching, and teamwork skills, including team management.
- Strong analytical skills to understand complex data and develop actionable initiatives.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, MSA data, and Salesforce (MAFs, store lists, trade programs, campaigns, customer contact information, authorized items).
- Experience with syndicated data.
Annual Base Salary Range: $160,000 to $200,000
