Roots Farms Private Capital Company, based in Kitsi - Attica, specializes in year-round production of high-quality vegetables and herbs. Production includes winter and summer specialty baby vegetables, as well as traditional outdoor and indoor (greenhouse) winter crops. Additionally, the farm operates an NFT hydroponic system. The goal is to ensure consistent weekly production and optimize yields through advanced management and technology.
As part of our dynamic growth, we are looking to hire for a permanent position, specifically for the region of South Attica.
Job SummaryThe Agronomist is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising all aspects of crop production across open field and greenhouse operations. This role ensures compliance with Global GAP and IPM standards, oversees irrigation and fertilization programs, and drives yield optimization. The manager will use data-driven decision-making to enhance production stability, efficiency, and sustainability.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and manage production schedules for baby vegetables and herbs on a weekly and seasonal basis.
- Oversee all field and hydroponic operations, ensuring timely planting, maintenance, and harvesting.
- Implement and maintain Global GAP and Integrated Pest Management (IPM) standards.
- Monitor and optimize fertilization and irrigation systems (open field and NFT hydroponics).
- Collect and analyze production data to assess yields, quality, and efficiency.
- Ensure sustainable practices and efficient resource use (water, nutrients, labor).
- Coordinate labor scheduling and daily tasks for field and greenhouse staff.
- Implement improvements in crop rotation, pest control, and nutrient management.
- Ensure consistent weekly production outputs to meet sales and market demands.
- Collaborate with technical consultants and agronomists to enhance productivity and quality.
- Degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, Agronomy, or related field.
- Experience in commercial vegetable or herb production.
- Strong knowledge of soil and hydroponic crop management systems.
- Experience with irrigation systems, fertigation, and nutrient management.
- Proficiency in Global GAP, IPM, and sustainability standards.
- Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills.
- Very good knowledge of the English language in both spoken and written form.
