Position Information:

We are seeking a Conservation & Sustainability Ambassador, who under general supervision, coordinates the planning, development and Perform independent work with limited supervision in activities focused on promoting adoption of conservation and sustainable practices in row crops, vegetables, orchards, livestock, and forestry commodities. The incumbent will be expected to recruit participants, assist in monitoring progress of practices, help with adoption of practices, and sample property to assess soil properties.

As this position requires working with farmers and ranchers, extensive travel within the assigned region is required. A basic knowledge and understanding of implementation of USDA-NRCS conservation practices is needed to advise participants on best use of land.

Responsibilities:

-Recruit participants for the project by promotion at field days, Texas A&M Agri Life Extension meetings, and other stakeholder events as well as through direct communication with Texas A&M Agri Life County Extension agents, Specialists, and other stakeholders who work with farmers, ranchers, and foresters.

-Regular communication with current and potential participants as well as project team members (e.g., answering the phone and timely response to emails). This may include some time outside of normal business hours.

-Assist with planning and coordination of contracting for each participant in the assigned region.

-Maintain detailed records of data, including communication with participants.

-Collect soil and other samples to be sent to laboratories either independently or with assistance from other Agri Life staff.

-Coordinate with regional Agri Life staff to update project lead and stakeholders about project progress.

-Provide a high level of attention to detail regarding project forms and timely submission deadlines.

-Monitor project timelines and identify issues.

-Adapt, combine, and make improvements to services, processes, or customer service delivery.

-Formulate, interpret, and/or work with producers to implement management policies or operating practices.

-Perform special analyses and project practice summaries.

-Prepare and review operational and special reports.

-Attend events and travel outside of normal work hours.

Required Qualifications:

-Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

-Two years' experience in Agricultural and Life Science field of work.

Preferred Qualifications:

-Master's degree in Soil and Crop Sciences

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

-Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation applications.

-Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

-Interpersonal and communication skills.

-Planning and organization skills including time management.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

-Ability to obtain a Texas Class C driver's license.

-Ability to haul a trailer and operate equipment.
