• Basic to intermediate Python programming skills and willingness to develop research software.
• Basic knowledge of AI/ML, networking, or cybersecurity through coursework or project experience.
• Ability to learn new technical concepts, tools, and programming frameworks independently.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a research team.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate research records and documentation.

• Assist with the development and evaluation of AI/ML methods for networking and cybersecurity applications, with a focus on UAV location integrity and awareness.
• Assist with data collection, preprocessing, analysis, visualization, and experimental evaluation.
• Implement and test software components for research experiments using Python and related tools.
• Assist with experiments involving network traffic, sensor data, embedded/edge devices, or other project-related datasets.
• Conduct literature searches and summarize relevant research papers under the guidance of the faculty supervisor.
• Maintain and document code repositories and research materials.
• Assist with preparing technical presentations, research reports, and other project documentation.
• Participate in regular meetings with the PI and research team and provide periodic progress updates.
• Perform other research-related tasks as assigned by the faculty supervisor.

• Experience with AI/ML frameworks such as Tensor Flow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn.
• Experience with deep sequence modeling, self-attention mechanisms, and temporal dynamics and irregularities.
• Prior research or project experience related to IoT security, UAV systems, or wireless networking.
• Experience with data-driven modeling, sensor data analysis, or localization and positioning systems.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical reports, publications, and collaborative research.

May work full‑time during breaks and summer if enrolled for the upcoming fall.
Must not work during scheduled class times.

Open to all actively enrolled students regardless of financial aid status.
Students do not need to be enrolled during summer if they plan to return in the fall.
Work‑study positions are need‑based jobs funded through federal or state financial aid programs and allow students to earn money to help pay for educational expenses.
Must be awarded federal or state work‑study through Financial Aid.
May work up to 19 hours per week during the semester.

Positions are limited to the amount awarded and must follow program guidelines.

Graduate assistantships offer opportunities to teach, conduct research, or assist in academic departments while continuing your graduate education. To qualify, students must:
Be fully admitted to a graduate program (not provisional or non‑degree).
Be in good standing with a minimum 3.0 GPA.
Be enrolled in courses each term of the assistantship.
Meet specific credit hour and subject requirements for teaching or lab roles.
Non‑native English speakers must demonstrate language proficiency.
Research assistants must complete Responsible Conduct in Research training.
Work up to 20 hours per week, depending on the appointment.
May have teaching or research assignments, or provide administrative support.
