Job Responsibilities

  • Respond to, investigate, and problem‑solve routine complaints reported by patients, parents, visitors and employees.
  • Engage expert resources to address patient, parent, visitor and employee concerns in a timely manner.
  • Direct traffic within Cincinnati Children’s and control parking for all patients, parents, visitors and employees; escort as needed.
  • Control access for the entire Medical Center, performing all necessary locking and unlocking of buildings and grounds.
  • Assist clinical staff with patient restraint, physically restraining patients or other visitors as instructed.
  • Restrain patients and monitor combative or potentially combative patients for extended periods, with annual recertification in physical restraint training.
  • Patrol buildings and grounds by motor vehicle, foot and bike; ensure only authorized personnel are admitted onto hospital premises.
  • Ensure visitors, staff and patients are properly badged before entering/exiting elevators.
  • Report safety and fire hazards observed during patrols and inspections; look for violations of the Joint Commission, OSHA, NFPA and Cincinnati Fire Code.
  • Provide way‑finding and general assistance for patients and visitors during routine security duties.
  • Respect the rights of parents/guardians and adult patients to identify who may visit; enforce visitor policy and badge access accordingly.
Compensation

Pay range: $18.33 – $22.25 per hour (annualized pay may vary based on FTE status).

Job Qualifications
  • High‑school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2+ years of work experience in a related discipline.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to complete TCI training and obtain TCI certification within 6 months of start date.
  • Physical strength, stamina, agility and control to safely, comfortably and without risk of injury perform the following tasks: stand, walk, stoop, kneel, twist/turn, lift/carry up to 30lb, squat/crouch, lunge, maneuver to the floor, slide down a wall while supporting another person, get up quickly from the floor.
