Data Center Security Specialist , AMER-SW Data Center Security

AWS is looking for an exceptional Data Center Security Specialist with a strong track record of supporting security programs within data center facilities, demonstrable program/project management experience, comprehensive security operations knowledge, and a deep understanding of physical security standards, processes, and requirements.

• Drive operational security excellence across multiple facilities located within a short driving distance.
• Identify and fix physical security gaps and shortcomings immediately.
• Interface with and direct vendors for new security construction, repairs, daily operations, patrols, and planning.
• Extract metrics and observe improvements by reviewing hard data, and make suggestions to improve electronic surveillance and access controls.
• Direct efforts to educate data center occupants on false‑alarm reductions.
• Write and implement security processes and procedures; produce reports, presentations, and communicate status to management.
• Manage physical security operations, develop post orders, define security procedures, handle site incidents, and work with security equipment.
• Participate in construction projects, drive day‑to‑day process improvement activities, and manage vendors.
• Ensure consistent deployment of all required security policies and procedures; participate in recurring site audits, reviews, and test new security technologies.
• Maintain resilient leadership, flexibility, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Begin the shift by reviewing overnight security reports and incident logs, conduct morning walkthroughs of the perimeter and red zones, coordinate with onsite security forces, and respond to real‑time events. Participate in construction coordination meetings, review access requests, and balance security requirements with operational needs. Perform hands‑on testing of security equipment, conduct badge audits, and investigate incidents. Collaborate with Data Center Operations teams, update security procedures, conduct training sessions, and manage vendor issues.

Prepare shift handover documentation, brief incoming personnel, and update the Multi‑Cluster Security Manager on priorities.

• 2+ years of overseeing security operations and working with security vendors/contractors.
• 1+ years of experience in security roles, preferably in a large‑footprint or campus model.

• Experience with physical security best practices, including application of systems, investigation techniques, and management of contract security guards.
• 2+ years of security experience or equivalent demonstrated through work experience, training, military experience, or education.
