Location: Dripping Springs

Security Monitor, High School

Under general supervision, provide security and protection for students, staff, and visitors throughout the high school campus. Help maintain a safe and orderly environment and assist in preventing property loss due to theft or vandalism.

Education/Certification:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid Texas driver's license

Special Knowledge/

Skills:

  • Ability to clearly and accurately record information
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
  • Ability to work effectively with youth and adults
  • Effective verbal communication skills

Experience:

  • None required

Major

Responsibilities and Duties:

Student Management:

  • Patrol assigned campus areas and monitor student behavior to enforce school rules and expectations.
  • Resolve conflicts or confrontations between students and report disturbances to campus administrators.
  • Report unsafe behavior, including reckless driving, to the appropriate campus administrator.
  • Ensure students do not leave campus without proper authorization.
  • Work cooperatively with office personnel regarding student conduct concerns, including dress code and tardiness.

Security and Parking:

  • Monitor exterior campus doors to ensure buildings remain secure during school hours.
  • Direct traffic and monitor parking on campus during school hours and assigned after-hours events.
  • Register student vehicles and maintain accurate parking registration records.
  • Communicate with campus office personnel regarding vehicle-related concerns.
  • Issue parking citations as necessary.

Other:

  • Assist law enforcement personnel as needed.
  • Provide directions and assistance to authorized visitors.
  • Notify law enforcement, fire department, or other emergency responders when immediate assistance is required.
  • Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding student and district information.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

None.

Tools/Equipment Used:
Two-way radio, alarm system, security equipment, fire extinguisher, and standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals.

Posture:
Prolonged sitting and standing.

Motion:
Frequent walking, climbing stairs, occasional keyboarding and mouse use, and moderate driving.

Lifting:
Moderate lifting and carrying (15–44 pounds).

Environment:
Work inside and outside with exposure to heat, cold, inclement weather, noise, and vehicle exhaust; may be exposed to hazardous situations, including violent confrontations.

Mental Demands:
Maintain emotional control under stress; ability to respond quickly in emergency situations; may work prolonged hours.
