Location: McCamey
Job Type: Regular. Plains is an industry‑leading transportation and midstream provider specializing in the transportation, storage, processing, and marketing of crude oil.
Responsibilities- Perform scheduled and non‑scheduled field tasks at tank farms, pump stations, facilities, control centers, and office locations under moderate guidance.
- Schedule and conduct inspections and maintenance of electrical equipment at substations, pump stations, valve & manifold sites, and other facilities.
- Create service requests, source parts, complete work orders, and maintain service records in accordance with the maintenance control system.
- Execute preventative maintenance on DC and AC motors, batteries, rectifiers, and inverters following vendor manuals and applicable codes, resolving abnormal conditions.
- Carry out lockouts and isolation procedures on company facilities and test the correct operation of transmitters, safety, protective devices, switch gear, and low‑voltage panels.
- Conduct electrical system repairs for Pipeline Control Center or Operations, including SCADA, DCS, HMI, and PLC installations and troubleshooting.
- Install conduit, wiring, and electronic metering devices such as Omni Flow Computers, densitometers, Coriolis, and Krohne meters per engineered drawings.
- Inspect and repair AC/DC equipment, emergency battery backup systems, valve actuators, and other electrical components.
- Assist senior personnel with line location, gauging, proving, and meter ticketing operations.
- Participate in construction projects, turnaround planning, commissioning, and other special assignments at terminals and pipelines.
- Maintain operation of stations, terminals, mainline, and gathering systems; perform routine operations and maintenance functions.
- Complete all regulatory paperwork, safe work permits, near‑miss and incident reports, and communicate problem areas to the appropriate level.
- Adhere to safety, regulatory, and integrity policies, reporting hazards and near misses to senior personnel.
- Respond to equipment breakdowns and emergency failures, perform minor purchases, cost tracking, and reporting.
- Ensure adequate material and inventory stock levels are maintained.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Technical degree, apprenticeship, or at least two years of field experience preferred.
- Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English; basic math skills.
- Team‑oriented with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to read and comprehend electrical drawings, pipeline maps, schematics, and operational manuals.
- Knowledge of electrical code requirements and federal, state, and provincial regulations.
- Familiarity with electrical theory, wiring, conduit installation, HVAC, and instrumentation.
- Experience with high‑voltage electrical systems, substation and switch gear work.
- Training in protective devices for pipeline operations, including relays, breakers, motor windings, RTDs, transmitters, and sensors.
- Proficient in installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing industrial electrical systems and AC/DC voltage measurement.
- Experience with PLC programming, flow computers, UPS and backup battery systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot motor starters, capacitors, tank gauges, transmitters, relay‑controlled field devices, LACT units, and timers.
- Knowledge of safe work practices and emergency procedures (fire extinguishers, eyewash, PPE, heights, Stop Work, safety data sheets).
- Understanding of pipeline and facility operations and controls.
- Skilled in line locating and basic crossing performance.
- Basic computer skills (Excel, Word, Office).
- Familiarity with PHMSA and OSHA regulations.
- Outstanding safety record and completion of Haz‑Mat training.
- Must hold DOT operator qualifications for pipeline mechanical operations.
- Must endorse physically demanding work, including outdoor extremes of heat and cold.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Valid driver’s license with clean abstract.
- Clean criminal background and satisfactory reference checks.
- Compliance with company drug and alcohol policy and pre‑employment screening.
