About the Position
Build your future as an Equipment Operator B with the Department of Environmental Protection. In this role, you will operate heavy equipment, support field crews, and help carry out important restoration work. This position supports the Bureau of Abandoned Mine Reclamation by operating equipment and assisting with field work on reclamation projects. You will play an important role in restoring damaged land and maintaining safe and efficient operations.
Responsibilities- Equipment Operation: Operate dozers, loaders, excavators, trucks, and other machinery for reclamation work
- Field Support: Assist with manual labor tasks using tools such as welders, torches, and hand tools
- Vehicle Maintenance: Clean, fuel, and perform basic repairs on vehicles and equipment
- Record Keeping: Maintain logs of equipment use, hours of operation, and material movement
- Logistics Assistance: Help schedule repairs, obtain estimates, and transport equipment between locations
- Safety Compliance: Follow safety procedures, observe hazards, and promote safe work practices
- Full‑time employment
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday – Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position
- Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $40,685 (before taxes)

- One year of experience as an Equipment Operator A (Commonwealth or equivalent Federal job title), or
- Two years of experience in operating heavy construction and specialized maintenance equipment with a gross vehicle weight of 32,001 pounds or more, or
- Any equivalent combination of experience or training
- This position requires that candidates possess a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
