Duties & Responsibilities
  • This supervisory position is responsible for overseeing the safe installation, maintenance, and repair of the City’s electric distribution system, including overhead and underground power lines, substations, transformers, breakers, and related electrical infrastructure.
  • The Electric Superintendent supervises electric line crews, coordinates daily operations and preventative maintenance programs, ensures compliance with safety regulations, and responds to outages and emergency situations as needed.
Requirements

Qualified applicants should possess strong knowledge of electric distribution systems, substations, transformers, and power line operations, along with the ability to lead and supervise personnel in a safe and efficient manner. Candidates must be proficient in pole top, bucket, and vault rescue procedures and capable of operating heavy equipment associated with electric utility work.

Minimum Qualifications Include:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid Texas Class B CDL or higher
  • Certification in overhead power distribution and maintenance preferred
  • Experience in electric utility operations and supervision preferred

This position requires working outdoors in all weather conditions and performing physically demanding tasks in and around energized electrical systems. Rotational on-call duty and emergency response are required.
