The Maintenance Support position provides a variety of skilled work in the maintenance, alteration, and repair of the District's facilities. Position requires working both independently and cooperatively.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Three years' experience in the industry (preferred) Performance Responsibilities:
• Performs a variety of tasks that require the ability to inspect, repair, fabricate, install, service, and maintain building facilities and building equipment.
• Performs scheduled preventive maintenance on all district equipment.
• Performs a variety of carpentry duties, including but not limited to, new construction, remodel, fabrication, and repairs/replacement of doors, walls, signs, desks, counters, shelves, and tables.
• Performs interior and exterior painting in the preparation and finishing of various surfaces, including pressure washing, chemical paint removal, sandblasting, sanding, brush painting, roller painting, and power spray painting.
• Performs a variety of interior masonry duties.
• Performs new installation and repairs of various floor coverings, including but not limited to, VCT, carpet tiles, and cover base.
• Performs a variety of plumbing repairs/maintenance, including, but not limited to, restroom commode and sink fixtures, drinking fountains, snaking drain lines, and rerouting of plumbing
• Performs a broad spectrum of hardware repairs and installations.
• Refinishes and makes repairs to furniture, tables, and chairs.
• Follows specific operations and maintenance guidelines for site specific equipment.
• Delivers materials, equipment, and supplies to District facilities.
• Operates a variety of hand and power tools.
• Operates a variety of vehicles.
• Safely works from ladders, scaffolding, and riggings.
• Keeps tools and equipment in good operating condition.
• Prepares daily reports on work completed and materials used.
• Responds to emergency calls to troubleshoot and make building repairs.
• Assists other department's personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in completion of their work activities.
• Attends staff meetings and in-service trainings.
• Maintain confidentiality.
• Perform other duties assigned by supervisor. Physical Effort and Work Environment:
• Maintain emotional control under stress.
• Occasional district wide and statewide travel.
• Frequent prolonged and irregular hours.
• Work indoors and outdoors to conduct on-site inspections of all maintenance facilities and construction projects.
• This position may involve rare exposure to blood or body fluids.
