Saber Power Services, LLC (SPS) is a nationally recognized full‑service EPC, specialty engineering, procurement, construction, and testing & commissioning company specializing in complex medium and high voltage electrical infrastructure across North America.
We are seeking a safety‑focused, NCCCO Certified Crane Operator to join our high voltage construction team. The role is critical for lifting, setting, and precisely placing heavy equipment on substation and transmission projects, requiring a strong understanding of crane operations in utility‑scale environments and comfort working around energized equipment under strict safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities- Operate mobile and/or fixed cranes to lift, move, and position large equipment such as transformers, breakers, structures, and steel components for high voltage substation and transmission line projects.
- Conduct daily equipment inspections and pre‑operation checks in accordance with OSHA and manufacturer requirements.
- Work closely with rigging crews, signalpersons, and site supervisors to ensure lifts are completed safely and efficiently.
- Interpret load charts and plan lifts in coordination with the project team.
- Maintain accurate lift logs and equipment maintenance records.
- Follow all company, OSHA, and site‑specific safety protocols, including maintaining required clearances near energized components.
- Assist with general substation or construction tasks as needed during crane downtime.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Current NCCCO certification (Telescopic Boom – Swing Cab and/or Lattice Boom preferred).
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience operating cranes, ideally in high voltage, utility, or heavy civil construction.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA 1926 Subpart CC and ANSI crane safety regulations.
- Ability to read and interpret lift plans and crane load charts.
- Familiarity with rigging techniques and hand signals.
- Valid CDL Class A (preferred).
- Ability to pass a background check, drug screen, and fit‑for‑duty physical.
- Prior experience working in substations, transmission line sites, or utility‑scale renewable energy projects.
- Signal person and Rigger Level I or II certifications.
- Outdoor work in all weather conditions.
- Travel may be required to job sites across multiple regions.
- Physical work including climbing, lifting, and extended periods operating equipment.
