This employee acting under the direction of the Electric Superintendent performs operational and maintenance duties related to the city’s electrical power distribution system, including the North substation facility. Engages in safe work practices and operations of overhead power lines, conductors, transformers, and breakers. Is knowledgeable and experienced in safe and proper procedures for inspecting fuses, mechanical interruption of power supply, breaker reset for high and low loads, and grounding requirements/testing through industry‑accepted safe work practices and procedures.
Operates machinery, boom trucks, and drill rigs for above‑ground and below‑ground electrical distribution transformers, conductors, power lines, and poles. Provides leadership and supervision duties to less experienced linemen both in the absence and presence of the city’s electrical superintendent. Able to work independently and supervise other linemen on maintenance or repair of electrical overhead distribution conductors, transformers, and fuses.
Full‑time position includes City‑paid Health, Dental, Vision Insurance, retirement with TMRS, paid sick, vacation, and holiday leave. Salary D.O.Q. Open until filled.
Requirements- Journeyman Level Classification or Class B Lineman Certification
- Preferred minimum 5‑years’ experience in overhead power lines
- Work in inclement weather
- Heavy physical demand
- Standby status or on‑call on a regular basis
