Bandera Electric Cooperative proudly distributes electricity to members across seven counties in Central Texas. The BEC Fiber division began offering 100% fiber broadband in 2017 and currently provides fiber internet service to members and subscribers in eight counties in the Texas Hill Country.

Our Operations Team is looking for a Lineman Apprentice. The Lineman Apprentice is responsible for assisting experienced linemen with energized electrical system tasks, including ensuring required materials for each job and operating equipment under the direct supervision of experienced line workers to gain the skills and knowledge necessary for advancement. This position is required to obtain 1,000 hours of on-the-job training (OJT), and complete required training and demonstrate competency in tasks outlined in Cooperative’s Lineman Progression Program.

• Assemble and load material required to complete service and work orders
• Assist in construction and maintenance tasks for power distribution systems utilizing the required equipment and under the supervision of experienced line workers
• Plan efficient service work routes and perform assigned tasks at each service location under the direction and supervision of experienced line workers as required
• Make secondary connections and assist with outdoor light repairs under the direction and supervision of experienced line workers
• Assist in providing support for all major and non-major outages in restoring service to members as required
• Demonstrate competency in tasks outlined in Cooperative’s Lineman Progression Program Job Competency Demonstration Form
• Complete the required training and certification(s) outlined in the Cooperative’s Lineman Progression Program
• Complete the required on-the-job training (OJT) hours requirement to promote to the next level of Lineman progression

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• First Aid and CPR Certification
• Pole Top Rescue Certification

• 1 - 3 years of experience in an equivalent position

• Valid Texas Driver’s License and related insurance
• CDL Class A must be obtained within 6 months of hire
• Must pass background, drug screening and physical
