Responsibilities
- Remove old roofing (single ply, built‑up, modified bitumen, shingles, pavers, ballast, shakes, etc.)
- Prepare deck for install
- Apply new roofing (single ply, built‑up, modified bitumen, shingles, pavers, ballast, shakes, etc.)
- Utilize hot tar kettles, vehicles (pickups, trucks, forklifts), and hand tools as required
- Assist foreman/Superintendent with maintenance and equipment usage
- Perform other duties assigned
Must be able to lift 11‑20 lbs continuously, 26‑50 lbs frequently, and 51‑100 lbs occasionally. Work often requires squatting or kneeling. Single‑ply roofing may involve moving roll goods up to 1,000 lbs. Requires dexterous use of both hands, balance, and knee/ankle control for ladder climbing wearing a tool belt. Work may occur on roofs up to 20 ft in height, in cold (≤0°C) or hot (>100°C) weather, wind, and rain.
Site involves fumes, dust, dirt, sharp tools, and slick flooring. PPE such as long sleeve shirts, gloves, face shields, hard hats, safety glasses, fall‑protection, and hearing protection will be provided.
Experience:
1‑3 years of flat roof experience preferred.
- OHSA‑10 hour and CPR/First Aid certifications preferred
- Rigging & flagging, reach forklift & boom lift training
- Single‑ply: EPDM, TPO/PVC, and specialties
- BUR: hot asphalt, cold applied, and specialties
- Shingles
- CERTA trained
- Must be reliable, honest, and have a strong desire to learn and grow
- Accountable for your actions
