Water Operator II/III

EPCOR is seeking a motivated and skilled Water Operator II or III to join our Sandow Water Treatment Plant near Lexington, Texas. This role is ideal for an experienced water professional who values operational excellence, safety, and teamwork while contributing to the delivery of safe, reliable drinking water. The position operates in a 24/7/365 rotating shift environment and plays a critical role in supporting essential community infrastructure.

As a Water Operator II / III, you will be responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining advanced water treatment systems and supporting equipment. You will perform technical, laboratory, maintenance, and operational duties to ensure treatment processes consistently meet regulatory and quality standards.

What You'd Be Responsible For
  • Operate and monitor water treatment processes including Reverse Osmosis, Ultrafiltration, and Cold Lime Softening systems.
  • Operate groundwater wells, remote stations, reservoirs, and associated equipment.
  • Conduct routine and advanced laboratory testing and interpret analytical results.
  • Maintain, calibrate, and verify continuous online water quality analyzers.
  • Perform operational, maintenance, and control work on treatment plant systems, pumps, valves, and chlorination equipment.
  • Install, repair, and maintain piping, valves, and other plant components.
  • Perform facility, well, and remote site inspections and operational rounds.
  • Analyze operational data and communicate findings clearly to team members and leadership.
  • Support process optimization, troubleshooting, and implementation of control strategies.
  • Assist with construction, fabrication, and general facility maintenance activities.
  • Operate heavy and specialized equipment such as cranes, forklifts, trenchers, backhoes, bucket trucks, and dump trucks as required.
  • Maintain facility appearance and landscaping as needed.
What's Required To Be Successful
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in water or wastewater operations, field maintenance, or mechanical maintenance.
  • Demonstrated experience with mechanical maintenance and repair of pumps, compressors, engines, and related equipment.
  • Valid Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) Class A, B, C, or D Water Operator license required.
  • Working knowledge of water treatment systems and associated maintenance practices.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and other basic office software.
  • Willingness to expand technical knowledge and skills related to water treatment operations.
  • Valid driver's license with the ability to maintain a satisfactory driving record.
