Job Responsibilities

  • Perform all Junior E&I Technician responsibilities with minimal supervision.
  • Conduct required instrumentation preventive maintenance tasks on centrifugal and positive‑displacement compressors, reference vendor manuals.
  • Maintain calibration equipment and resolve abnormal conditions using vendor recommendations.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on control devices such as flow, temperature, pressure, and level instruments, referencing vendor manuals.
  • Resolve control loop abnormal conditions with vendor guidance.
  • Service control valves and regulators.
  • Maintain safety and process monitoring systems, resolving abnormal conditions as recommended by vendors.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on switch gear and transformers.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance on DC and AC generators, referencing vendor manuals and applicable codes.
  • Complete meter inspections using the meter inspection checklist and use meter proving factors to ensure accuracy.
  • Document all meter records in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on custody transfer equipment, such as Lease Automatic Custody Transfer Units.
  • Maintain rail dock terminal measurement systems.
  • Inspect and maintain cathodic protection systems.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance on centrifugal and positive‑displacement pumps, confirm operation of control devices and vibration equipment.
  • Service hydraulic and pneumatic valve actuators, resolving abnormal conditions (e.g., oil contamination, wear, seal leakage).
  • Complete facility safety checks, note and report abnormal conditions, and troubleshoot as necessary.
  • Communicate problem areas and recommendations to the appropriate level.
  • Ensure safety, regulatory, and operation integrity policies are followed.
  • Perform routine operations and maintenance functions as applicable.
  • Participate in non‑regular maintenance work and respond to emergency situations and repairs.
  • Assist with the Preventive Maintenance (PM) program: monitor, modify, record, and update PMs.
  • Participate in construction projects, turnaround planning, installation and commissioning, and other special assignments within terminals and pipelines.
  • Interact with and direct contractors as required.
  • Respond to breakdown and emergency equipment failures and initiate spill response where appropriate.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Required
  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of second or third year of a related trades apprenticeship program is preferred.
  • Minimum two years of relevant work experience at the prior level.
  • Proficient in reading and comprehending electrical drawings, pipeline maps, technical drawings, schematics, and operational manuals.
  • Knowledge of electrical code requirements and specifications for pipeline/facility operations, and applicable federal, state, and provincial regulations.
  • Familiarity with electrical theory, basic electrical wiring and conduit installation, HVAC and/or instrumentation training helpful.
  • Experience or training with high‑voltage electrical systems and safety; substation and switch gear work experience desired.
  • Training in protective devices for pipeline operations, including mechanical and solid‑state relays, breakers, motor windings, RTDs, temperature transmitters, vibration sensors/recorders, and associated devices.
  • Proficient in installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing basic industrial electrical systems.
  • Basic AC/DC voltage measurement and capacitance/amperage testing skills.
  • Proficiency with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), flow computers, UPS system inverters, and backup battery system maintenance.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair motor starters, capacitors, field tank gauges, transmitters, relay‑controlled field devices, LACT units, timers, and controls.
  • Safe work practices and procedures, including PPE identification, confined space entry, incident reporting, and hazard identification (asbestos, benzene, silica, nitrogen, heat and cold stress, noise, radiation).
  • Basic computer skills:
    Excel, Microsoft Office, Word.
