Role Description

The Licensed Irrigator is a full-time, on-site role based in Klein, TX, responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of irrigation systems across Klein ISD properties. This role includes inspecting irrigation equipment, identifying leaks or malfunctions, adjusting controllers, and ensuring efficient water usage in compliance with local regulations and district standards. The Licensed Irrigator will perform routine testing, seasonal system start-up and shut-down, and collaborate with grounds and facilities staff to support healthy landscaping and safe campus environments.

Daily tasks also involve maintaining accurate records of work performed, ordering necessary parts and supplies, and responding to work orders and service calls in a timely manner. The role requires adherence to safety procedures and coordination with supervisors to plan and prioritize irrigation projects.

Qualifications
  • Valid Texas Licensed Irrigator credential and thorough knowledge of irrigation system installation, maintenance, and repair.
  • Experience with irrigation controllers, valves, pumps, backflow prevention devices, and related tools and equipment.
  • Understanding of water conservation practices, local codes, and safety regulations related to irrigation and grounds maintenance.
  • Ability to read and interpret site plans, schematics, and technical documentation to diagnose and resolve irrigation issues.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and capability to work independently and as part of a facilities team.
  • Physical ability to perform outdoor work in varying weather conditions, including lifting, digging, and operating equipment.
  • Effective organizational and time-management skills to prioritize multiple work orders and projects.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; experience in school district or commercial landscaping settings is beneficial.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record, as required for travel between district sites.
