Overview
Facilities Specialist V — full-time position in Transit Services, Weslaco, TX, US.
Requisition
• Salary: $21.89 to $25.50 hourly
- Performs advanced (senior-level) construction, restoration, renovation, and maintenance work including building repair, renovation, restoration, and alteration for designated trade skills.
- May serve as a lead worker providing direction to others; work under minimal supervision with latitude for initiative and independent judgment.
- Coordinates or schedules building repair, renovation, or restoration projects; examines and interprets drawings, diagrams, and blueprints.
- Operates and maintains motorized vehicles and equipment; performs maintenance, construction, and repair work such as painting or mechanical work.
- Performs carpentry work: installation, alteration, repair, and maintenance of buildings, doors, windows, wood fixtures, and furniture.
- Performs gas and electric work (welding, brazing, soldering) to repair, maintain, or fabricate parts and equipment.
- Inspects operating machinery, equipment, utility systems, building accessories, and appliances to ensure proper maintenance and repair.
- Calculates material and labor costs and orders parts and supplies; maintains records on work orders and projects.
- Performs and/or assists licensed electricians and plumbers in maintenance and repair of electrical and plumbing systems.
- Assembles, installs, repairs, and maintains modular furniture systems; supports heating, ventilation, and air conditioning work.
- Performs scheduled inspections and addresses required improvements to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local funded programs.
- May serve as a lead worker and/or provide guidance to others.
- Experience in construction, maintenance, and repair work.
- Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent, supplemented by vocational training in a designated trade; experience and education may be substituted for one another.
- Knowledge of construction, repair, maintenance, operation of buildings, equipment, and utility systems; building materials; welding procedures and fire and safety regulations.
- Skill in selecting appropriate tools, troubleshooting, estimating materials, and applying proper methods for maintenance and repair of buildings and equipment; ability to communicate effectively and to guide others.
- The ability to communicate in English and Spanish is preferred.
- Requires a valid Texas driver’s license; a valid Texas Commercial driver's license is preferred but not required.
- HVAC, Plumbing, and/or Electrician certification from state or vocational training preferred.
