Position Summary/ObjectiveTheresponsibilitiesoftheindustrialinsulationjourneymanaretobeknowledgeableandcompetentintheapplicationofsheetmetal/cladding,cryogenic,andhotserviceinsulationmaterialstopipingsystems,exchangers,furnaces,boilers,tank,vessels,ductworkand/orothermechanicalsystemsinordertohelpcontrolandmaintaintemperaturesandnoisereduction.
Essential Functions- AdherestoallOSHA,Marquis Construction Services ,andsitespecificsafetyrequirementsforapplyinginsulationandcladdingmaterials.
- Participateinsafetypre-jobauditsandtailgatemeetingswiththeworkcreworprojectteamtocommunicateandreviewallsafetyhazards/safetyrisksandtheprecautionsrequiredtoeliminatethoserisks.
- Mustparticipateintheprocessoffillingout,reviewing,andsigningallJSA’s,iPlan,iChat,iCard,S&CE/TXOinsulationchecklists,SWPand/oranyotherrequireddocumentationpriortobeginninganyjobtask.
- Readblueprintsandspecificationtodeterminethescopeofwork:locations,quantities,andsizesofmaterialsrequired.
- Measure,markandcutinsulationmaterialstorequiredspecificationforcoveringsurfaces,usingtapemeasures,handsaws,knives,and scissors.
- Fitinsulationaroundobstructionsandshapeinsulatingmaterialandprotectivecovering/claddingasrequired.
- Determinetheamountsandtypesofinsulationneededand/orrequiredandmethodsofinsulation,basedonfactorssuchaslocation,surfaceshapeandequipmentuse.
- Installsheetmetal/claddingaroundinsulatedequipmenttoprotectinsulationfromweatherconditionsorphysicaldamage.
- Apply,remove,andrepairinsulationonindustrialequipment,pipes,ductwork,orothermechanicalsystemssuchasheatexchangers,tanks,andvesselstohelpcontrolnoiseandmaintaintemperatures.
- Mustbeknowledgeableinthefabricationofsheetmetal/claddingtosupportinstallationinthefield.
- Willingnesstoworkwithothercrewmemberstoaccomplishtask,supporting and/orhelping.
- Effectivelycommunicatingwith Supervisors,Peersand Subordinates.
- Responsibleforcleaningworkarea–removingdebrisandmaterials.
- Anyotherdutiesasassignedby Supervision.
- Understandingtheinstallationprocessofbothcryogenicandhotserviceinsulationmaterials.
- Theworkenvironmentcharacteristicsdescribedbelowrepresentthosethatanemployeeencounterswhileperformingtheessentialfunctionsofthisjob.
- Workingaroundmovingmechanicalparts.
- Workinginhighprecariousplaces.
- Exposedtoalltypesofweatherconditions–hot/humid/cold/wet.
- Workingarounddifferenttypesofchemicals.
- Workinginhighnoiseareas.
- Workingnearheatradiantsources.
- Thephysicaldemandsdescribedherearerepresentativeofthosethatmustbemetbyanemployeetosuccessfullyperformtheessentialfunctionsofthisjob.

- Willberequiredtowearpersonalprotectiveequipment(PPE) includingbutnotlimitedtohardhat,safety glasses/goggles,earplugs/muffs,masks/respirators,safety vests,gloves,andleathersteel/compositetoeworkboots.
