Position Summary

Zachry Underground and Utility Services is seeking an experienced Lattice Boom Crane Operator to support our heavy civil and underground utility construction projects. This position is responsible for safely and efficiently operating lattice boom cranes to lift, move, and place materials and equipment throughout the project. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience performing critical lifts in heavy civil construction environments and must be able to work day and night shifts as needed.

What

You’ll Do
  • Operate lattice boom cranes safely and efficiently to lift, move, and place materials and equipment throughout the project.
  • Lift and place concrete by bucket, prefabricated components, precast structures, rebar, concrete pipe, and metal forming components.
  • Inspect and compare load weights with lifting capacity and load charts to ensure safe operation and prevent overload.
  • Perform daily equipment inspections and report maintenance or repair needs.
  • Assist with cleaning, lubricating, and maintaining crane mechanisms, including pulleys and hoisting systems.
  • Communicate effectively with ground personnel using proper hand signals and radio communication.
  • Collaborate with various crews on job sites to complete lifts safely and efficiently.
  • Follow all company and general safety rules, policies, and guidelines.
  • Perform general labor duties as required by the project team.
  • Work rotating day and night shifts as needed to meet project requirements.
  • Maintain a strong focus on safe crane operation and adherence to OSHA regulations, including completion of required daily inspection logs.

What We’re Looking For
  • Minimum of 5 years of crane operation experience on heavy civil construction projects required.
  • Demonstrated experience operating lattice boom cranes and safely lifting and placing heavy construction materials and equipment.
  • Proven experience erecting and dismantling cranes.
  • NCCCO or NCCER certification required.
  • Strong knowledge of crane load charts, lifting capacities, rigging practices, and safe hoisting procedures.
  • Strong knowledge of crane inspection procedures and ability to identify and recommend corrective actions.
  • Comprehensive understanding of OSHA requirements related to crane operations, inspections, and safe hoisting practices.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with field teams.
  • Dependable, self-motivated, and task-oriented with a focus on safety and precision.
  • Physical ability to perform assigned crane-related duties, including prolonged sitting, walking, standing, and bending.
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull 50+ pounds as required.
  • Must pass a drug screen and meet the requirements of the Zachry crane operator physical.
