• Under the general supervision of the Public Works Director
• Performs the maintenance, repair, and construction of streets, drainage systems, water and sewer lines, and alleys
• Operates various hand tools, power tools, light equipment, and vehicles to accomplish assigned work
• Performs other related work as required
• Performs manual labor tasks

• Skillfully and safely operates hand tools, axes, air compressors, jackhammers, cutting torch and various weight hammers, lawn mowers, chain saws, wood chipper, and tractors
• Performs manual labor for street, drainage, and traffic maintenance, operation, and construction.
• Prepares streets and roadways for paving; hauls, processes, and compacts road materials.
• Performs milling and paving of streets.
• Repairs damaged sidewalks and curbs; patches pot holes in roadways.
• Trims trees and/or shrubbery obstructing.
• Cleans all infrastructure in the right-of-way of debris.
• Installs and repairs street signs, traffic signs, and/or other types of signs for City departments.
• Responsible for the safe operation of vehicles and equipment including washing, servicing, and reporting any defects to a supervisor
• Must be able to follow written and oral directions
• Must be able to write reports by hand
• Carries up to 100 pounds and pulls, pushes, or drags up to 150 pounds of repair equipment and material
• Climbs, crawls, kneels, squats, stoops, and bends freely when performing repairs
• Sits or stands for extended periods of time
• Hear clearly when working around equipment and in traffic, using safety equipment and precautions
• Work indoors and outdoors in extreme temperatures including heat, cold, temperature swings, and inclement weather
• Some exposure to dust, fumes, and loud noises, using proper safety precautions
• Work in confined spaces

• Subject to after-hour call out for emergency situations
• Drives and operates various pieces of equipment such as cars, trucks, and tractors
• May assist in performing water meter reading functions
• May assist or participate in animal control officer duties
• Mandatory drug screening
• Provide services to the general public when emergency conditions warrant it, either in preparation for, or as a reaction to, one or more disastrous events such as: a civil disturbance, hurricane, tornado, earthquake, flood, ice storm, fire, or other disasters which threaten the safety of the citizens
