The City of Jersey Village is looking for an Irrigation Technician to join our Parks team!

As an Irrigation Technician
, you will play an important role in maintaining the City's parks, recreation facilities, athletic fields, landscaping, and irrigation systems. This position is ideal for someone who can work independently, troubleshoot problems, stay organized, and take initiative with limited day-to-day supervision.
Your primary focus will be the installation, inspection, repair, troubleshooting, and maintenance of irrigation systems throughout the City. You'll also support the Parks team with a variety of grounds and facility maintenance activities.
Responsibilities include:
- Install, inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain irrigation systems.
- Set and adjust irrigation timers and repair sprinkler heads, valves, backflow devices, and other irrigation components.
- Perform irrigation system startups, winterization, and preventative maintenance.
- Assist with the maintenance of City parks, recreation facilities, athletic fields, and landscaping.
- Operate equipment including mowers, edgers, chainsaws, trenchers, backhoes, trucks, and other tools and equipment.
- Mow grass, plant and maintain landscaping, and perform general grounds maintenance.
- Perform basic construction and repair work involving concrete, sand, gravel, and asphalt.
- Maintain picnic tables, playground equipment, buildings, grounds, tools, and other City property.
- Prepare and maintain athletic fields, including field striping.
- Work independently or as part of a crew to complete assigned projects.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
We're looking for someone who is dependable, hands-on, safety-minded, and able to take ownership of their work.
The successful candidate must:
- Be able to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Be able to perform basic arithmetic.
- Be comfortable working independently and troubleshooting routine problems.
- Be able to work outdoors in all types of weather and temperatures.
- Possess a valid Texas Driver's License
. - Possess a valid irrigation license or obtain one within 60 days of employment
.
This is an active, outdoor position. The job requires the ability to:
- Lift and carry up to 60 pounds
. - Pull, push, or drag maintenance equipment weighing up to 150 pounds
. - Frequently crawl, kneel, squat, stoop, twist, stand, walk, and perform physical labor for extended periods.
- Work indoors and outdoors in extreme temperatures and inclement weather.
- Work around dust, odors, electrical and mechanical equipment, and other potential hazards while following appropriate safety precautions.
