What We Are Looking For

GVEC is looking to hire you for the position of Metering Technician I to deliver the unexpected with a willingness to continuously develop yourself, your department and our organization. As a Metering Technician I, you will help monitor low, medium, and high-voltage substation and distribution electric systems. This position will involve fieldwork including switching, equipment maintenance and calibration under minimal supervision.

T he minimum starting pay for this role is $27.00/hr plus bonuses that are tied to a multitude of organizational benchmarks set forth annually. Pay will be determined by skills, qualifications and experience.

How You'll Help
  • Perform field installations, testing and routine maintenance of standard residential and commercial metering
  • Handlehigh-voltage/complex primary metering, advanced power quality diagnostics, AMI (Advanced Metering Infrastructure) system configurations and high-revenue industrial accounts
  • Maintain high-voltage transmission/substation metering and transformer-ratedinstallations
  • Perform single and three phase field and shop meter testing, including complex multi-vector, secondary circuit burden and instrument transformer testing
  • Perform repairs and replacements of faulty components, ensuring proper functionality and adherence to safety standards
  • Assist CIS with advanced meter data management interval data to provide 15-minute intervals for home battery installations.
  • Conduct electrical tests including insulation resistance, power factor and transformer ratio tests to ensure equipment performance and compliance
  • Collaborate with engineers, supervisors and other technicians to develop and implement maintenance strategies and improvement plans
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed including meter testing history and results
  • Follow safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment
  • Keep up to date with industry standards regarding the latest meter testing best practices
  • Required to respond to issues during and outside normal business hours including holidays and weekends
Experience/Skills You'll Need
  • Familiarity with electrical testing equipment and techniques
  • Understanding of electrical safety procedures and regulations
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, diagrams and technical manuals
  • Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work with precision
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions and confined spaces
Preferred Experience /Skills
  • Technical certifications or vocational training in AC/DC electrical systems
  • Strong computer and math skills
  • Experience in the installation, maintenance and repair of metering circuits and devices
  • Experience with solid-state circuitry and computer-based test equipment, control, monitoring and analysis systems and associated tools. This experience would typically include performing electrical maintenance, calibration and troubleshooting
  • Experience with MV90, Pro Vision, Metermate, AcSELerator, NISC, Parsons, AutoCAD and PC-Pro+ software
  • GVEC system and equipment knowledge a plus
