Journeyman Lineman

This position will work directly with the Foreman in coordinating the work of operation and to assure safe, efficient job performance producing quality results. Work involves climbing poles, bucket and line truck operations and handling high voltages during the construction of electrical distribution facilities. Responsible for enforcement of safety policies and seeing that construction standards are followed. Considerable independent action and leadership is required.

Must understand the empowerment concept and encourage other team members to take initiative in planning, coordination, and problem solving for crew activities.

• Construction, maintenance, and repair of power distribution systems.
• Operate and maintain the existing distribution system and construction of new facilities.
• Perform work on energized and non-energized circuits.
• Climb poles, operate a line truck, bucket, back yard machine and other related equipment.
• Coordinate the work to assure safe, efficient job performance, producing quality results.
• Continually learn to read and interpret electrical power circuit plans and specifications.
• Continually learn the methods, materials and equipment used.
• Continually learn construction standards, code requirements and specifications.
• Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Technical knowledge of electricity is preferred.
• Work well with others.
• Strong appreciation for the safety of self and co-workers.
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
• Fundamental knowledge of electricity.
• Minimum 4 years' experience in the electrical services industry required.
• OSHA Competent Person Certified is preferred.
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills must be very detail oriented.
• Possess strong organizational and time management skills.
• Proven success in meeting critical deadlines under stressful conditions.
• Strong sense of personal responsibility.
