Heavy Equipment Mechanic, Lead​/Technician Inspector, UME

Location: Fort Hood

Akima -  - Responsibilities:
Analyzes malfunctions and repairs, rebuilds and maintains power equipment such as cranes, power shovels, scrapers, paving machines, motor graders, trench-digging machines, conveyors, bulldozers, dredges, pumps, compressors, pneumatic tools, and tracked/wheeled vehicles;
Operates and inspects machines or equipment to diagnose defects, dismantles and reassembles equipment using hoists and hand tools, examines parts for damage or wear, replaces defective engines and subassemblies such as transmissions, and tests overhauled equipment for operating efficiency;
Welds broken parts and structural members; may direct workers in cleaning parts and assisting with assembly/disassembly of equipment; may repair and maintain mining machinery;
Identification as LEAD adds administrative duties including personnel accountability, timekeeping, drafting and submitting reports, creating a safety culture, and enforcing contract requirements and standards;
Work indoors and outdoors; periodic overtime; exposure to heat, dust, cold, and inclement weather
